Jonathan Cyril HarlandGIBSONGIBSON - JONATHAN CYRIL HARLAND, March 21, 2020. Passed away suddenly on 21st March aged 72. Husband to Pat (deceased) and extended family, loving father to Jonathan. Will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. There will be an immediate family only funeral followed by a memorial once current restrictions are lifted. Donations gratefully received to Marie Curie.

I am happy to say something else about Jon in his earlier years ... I was 8 when he was born and I was crying because I was going to be late for school. I got on very well with him as he was ‘my baby’. When he was older I enjoyed his company very much and we would go out together as children and I would look after him. We would go out blackberrying together and make jam when we returned home. When I qualified as a teacher Jon wanted me to go and teach in his school but I didn’t realise that until I had started teaching at another school. I loved my younger brother dearly.

From Jane, the other older sister. My memories of Jon as a young boy were how reserved he was, in a very similar way to our father. He didn't get into mischief as much as I did. He was a good boy.
We haven't seen each other much over recent years. I guess we both had busy lives in different areas.

Jon you were one of a kind. I'll forever be grateful for having so many lovely memories with you from seeing how happy you were on your wedding day, to having a wonderful holiday in Vegas where your sunbathing like a statue was the highlight of my holiday and still makes me chuckle when I look through pictures. You were at every party, occasion or get together we had. You and Pat never let anyone down and you always collected my camera to go round taking lots of pictures, until I would tell you to get on some. From going to concerts to out every new year together I'll never forget any of it.

You always had time for everyone and had a great passion for everything you talked about. I just found you so endearing Jon and although I have really been heartbroken to think I'll never get to see you again I remember our last conversation and how you told me you were really missing Pat and didn't know what you would do without her so I tell myself you are now together.... At that table with Shankly and Paisley.

The kids still have the Marie curie pin off you and we will treasure it forever and have planted a sunflower for you. As you had a yellow flower at our wedding they remind me of you now. You will be so missed Jon and you were loved very much. You'll never walk alone love Danielle Darren, Théodor, Béatrice and Eléonor xxx
