Mark and I became friends when we joined Centre Radio in Leicester for its launch in 1981. He was an experienced radio presenter whilst I was still a relative newcomer. I looked up to him and he was a great mentor. We enjoyed many adventures both on and off the air.

Remaining friends long after the closure of Centre Radio, Mark came to my first wedding and worked with me again in Stoke-on-Trent.

A genial presenter with an amazingly rich voice - probably down to frequent lubrication - normally his trademark “large Scotch”!

I’ve never heard a bad word spoken about him. A kind hearted, larger than life character who was passionate in the extreme about radio.

RIP Mark. Go easy on the Scotch wherever you are.

John
