I grew up watching on the buses when we had a sense of humour in this country before the PC brigade took over.
Im still a big fan, (at 43) and was upset to hear of Reg's death.
God Bless him and all those that he worked with, and his family.

To the family of Reg Varney.
I would like to say that I knew Reg Varney, but that would not be the case. However, I did meet him once.
His father, Sid was i'm told a great friend of my grandfather, the late John Tilbury.
Reg I met briefly at my grandfathers funeral, which was in the summer of 1966, although his sister Bella & her husband Alf, I met many times, as they remained friends of my mother & father.
My grandfather, my mother (Edna Tilbury nee Hart), her brother & sisters would often reminisce & talk about the "good old days", when the Varneys & the Tilburys would have family get togethers & enjoy parties that were just the best. Reg & his father Sid would play the piano or the piano accordion, with members of both families singing, dancing & enjoying merriment like I assume we don't have today.
As a child I would often fantisise about how those days must have been. Of course I will never know, but I can still close my eyes & imagine.
My respects to the Varney family. And to Reg wherever you may be. Hold Tight......

Just like to say that I have very fond memories of Reg Varney and On The Buses. I grew up with them and have brought the box set as an adult. If my maths is correct Reg was playing the son of an actress who was only 8 yrs older than himself but some how it worked. It was warm to watch and still remains so. On a cold winters night I love to put an episode or two on with my feet up and some fish and chips in my lap.

Reg had a talent which like many of his time had been hard learnt up and down the country in theatres. Time and hard work sustain talent thats why actors like Reg are remembered. Anna Karen and Stephen Lewis are the only two left of the main cast. People today say its not pc and how did they get away with it. to them I say no, but its real.

Man will always oggle women parents will always disagree with kids and married couples will always argue and thats the way life is. Reg has left the depot but we're still laughing!

Have a safe journey reg you always made me laugh rip old friend

Stan you will be so sadly missed - On the Buses was just absolutely BRILLIANT I can watch it over and over again, I am so sorry for your family you were such a lovely actor - you were so funny and such a good actor. God Bless

So sad to see Reg/Stan has finally gone on his last bus ride, but this time to heaven, & not the Town , & District bus depot. You will be sadly missed by all (like me) who knew of you already, & by those who have not already heard of you.
