Ian Wheeler was a supremely talented reeds player, who was showcased brilliantly during his years with the Chris Barber band, and also memorably in the Sims/Wheeler Vintage Jazz Band and many other combinations which included some of the top traditional jazz players in the world.

He will be very sadly missed by jazz fans of a 'certain age' (like me) who, over the years, spent many happy hours being superbly entertained by his beautiful playing.
