I had the pleasure of meeting George,at the first qrp convention at Jn28 in South Normanton. He gave talks to the Rally attendees and I was cameraman, usher and security, I got the best job at the Rally that day. George was a good and interesting speaker. There were a multitude of his little Radios and designs all built in his own unique way. The Talks were held in the Methodist Church across from the Rally and the place was packed. George joked 'That he always got a good crowd.'
The QRP CLUB books articles and encouragement and possibly eating mints was what George gave us, a real different take on an expensive hobby. If a book or Sprats appear in the Junk sale at our club the bidding is fierce. I loved to read his articles and was blessed to have met him that day.
Many of the amateurs I know have expressed there sadness at his loss, he touched there lives with his input into our hobby. To those closest to George, his family and friends my sincere condolences, my thoughts and prayers for your loss, and thanks for allowing George to have such a huge input into our hobby. God Bless you George,73 de g7sjd Sean.
