I am saddened to hear that David passed away he taught me back in 1958 to 1962 during which time he gave me the skills to produce a full size sculpture of a roman solider which I believe stood for many years outside the art room. He instilled me with a love of art which has been a huge part of my life. Many happy memories.

David was a lovely man. In addition to being such an amazing art teacher he played with me on trombone in the best school orchestra I was ever part of 1976-79. - he is top right here the year we won the Alderley Edge festival. Giving God thanks for Mr Light. RIP

David or should I say Mr Light you were my art teacher, a great inspiration. You were such a talented man. I have a vivid memory of you painting the UK coat of arms for the silver jubilee, amazing. It was always a highlight to get a double period of art. You Sir, will be sadly missed.

A teacher much respected by the pupils at the Stanfield County Technical School and its successors. Not only did he teach Art subjects but he was a mainstay of training the school choir. For the school drama productions in the 1960s he was also the lighting and sound organiser. Under his tutelage the team of boys were crammed into the small space in the wings with the reel-to-reel tape player and a record deck. He once allowed me to read a relevant chapter of his memoir that he updated at each phase of his life. Hope it gets published in full on the web as a tribute to him. An obituary will appear shortly on the school's memorabilia web site.
