I worked with Mick on Nightshift at varying times for 2 years. We would sit for 10 hours and just talk football, politics and life. I knew from the first time I met Mick that he was a kind, honest and genuine man with a big heart. He was devoted to his family, it was evident in the way he spoke and it was admirable. I wanted to go for a pint with him and get to know him better outside work. Fortunately, we did on several occasions over the years and had some laugh each time, even when his beloved Everton got beat he would be much the same, full of wit, always positive and could tell you stories where you would fold in half laughing. He imparted a lot of wisdom on a younger man in much need of it. When we last spoke we had planned another wee day when the lockdown ended. I'm gutted I didn't get to say goodbye but feel privileged to have been able to call Mick my friend and will never forget him. I claimed Mick as an Uncle not long after I met him as I wanted him to be my Uncle. He would always laugh at this but wouldn't correct me. He was a great man who I held in high esteem and wanted him to know that too. Thanks for the memories Uncle Mick. Love to Jackie and all the family.
