I've known Leah all her life. She was a beautiful, kind, funny, caring girl who we all loved so much. She had the ability to make us all laugh and lit up a room with her big, brown eyes and infectious broad smile. She cared about people, recently raising money for the NHS. She loved her chickens and recently proudly sent me videos of them and their eggs.
I have such fond memories of Leah and two particularly stick in my mind. The first one, when she would have been around 3, running up to me in Tesco excitedly exclaiming that "Mummy has a baby in her tummy."
The second memory was New Years Eve, 2012. I drove to Durham spontaneously having spent several days in bed. I had very little with me but it was lovely Leah who took me upstairs, brushed my hair, applied some make-up (even false eye lashes) found clothes and shoes and gave me a complete makeover. She made me feel good about myself again. Leah was good like that. She cared about people. I will always remember Leah's kind, selfless nature and empathy towards others.
Rest in peace, baby girl. Your pain is over. You are gone, but you will never be forgotten.
