To the Charlton family, our sincere sympathy to you all. We lived in England during Italia 90 and in all my years working I never looked for time off work but Jack gave us a really special reason. It was such fun ringing Ireland, my mother who knew nothing about football couldn’t stop talking about Jack’s boys in green. He gave us such joy, entertainment and a great sense of pride. We are forever grateful for the memories. Last September flying out of Cork, I sat beside Jack’s sculpture to read my book. I felt safe sitting there, I never had the privilege of meeting him but he became part of all our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May he rest in peace. Anne and Padraig Murphy, Cahersiveen, Co. Kerry.
