So much to remember and thank Bruce for.
The trips abroad, the organisation of rides, time trials and cyclists’ social activities.
Above all a guiding spirit and inspiration for us younger cyclists!
He will be remembered by all who rode with him and benefitted from his enormous experience and energy.

I have very happy memories of your wedding; birthdays and staying with you in Leamington. We always received a warm, generous, 5-star welcome as Angie wined and dined us on her amazing food.

I first met Bruce over 55 years ago when he recruited me to join Courtaulds. Sandra and I soon met Gillian and Bruce socially at the Dept of Chemical Engineering wine syndicate bottlings and tastings where there was great hilarity. I remember one occasion when Bruce and Gillian arrived on their tandem at the Briggs home in Bulkington. As we got more inebriated we had tandem time trials around the close to the neighbours annoyance!!
After a few years Sandra and I moved to Cockermouth but still kept in close touch with Bruce, Gillian and their family. Bruce loved to visit us in the Lakes, so much so that he bought a time share in Keswick. In subsequent years Bruce and I , often accompanied by his nephew, Peter, completed many fell walks always finishing at a pub.
We often visited Long Lea usually for family celebrations such as significant birthdays, anniversaries and Hannah’ wedding. Bruce and Gillian always visited the Lowther Show where we always joined them and their friends. These were excellent week ends with a great meal each Saturday evening at the How Town Hotel on Ullswater.
Our annual visits to the theatre at Stratford with Bruce, Gillian and their friends were always memorable. After Gillian died Bruce would invite our daughter, Helen, to accompany him as she was then living in Warwick. Both our daughters, Helen and Justine, had very happy visits to Long Lea
Another enjoyable occasion was when Bruce and Gillian joined us on a canal cruise on the Canal de Nivernais where Adam was managing the boat yard. Bruce and I had many ‘degustasions’ each day.
In recent years we have seen less of Bruce as his visits to the Lakes became less frequent.
Sandra and I will miss those good times, but they will always remain in our memories
