My life. My world. Dad I dreaded this day when your no longer with me. You was the most amazing dad a daughter could wish for. My life will never be the same. The last words you said to me was don’t cry. The tears won’t stop dad. I love you so much. I’m so so sorry you didn’t get your final wish. I tried so hard to fulfil that for you. To my wonderful Grandad. I am still in denial that you have left us... maybe it’s because I am so far away and it hasn’t completely hit me, or maybe it’s because you were an absolute trooper and it seemed like you were invincible. I am going to miss your amazing and timely wit and that infectious smile and laugh (I’m now wondering if a bellowing laugh is a McLane trait!). You really were the sunshine in all our lives and I’m sure you will continue to shine down on us. I am going to terribly miss seeing you when I am next able to come home - this was honestly my favourite part of returning home and always the first item planned on the itinerary. The love, laughter and happiness from those visits are things I will cherish. I’ll forever be proud to be the real John McLane’s granddaughter. Rest in love and peace, Grandad. You’ll be forever in my heart, Lucy x
