So sorry to hear this sad news - Mr Laws operated on my son’s eyes over 8 years ago. Joshua had just turned 2 and we were so reassured by Mr Laws’ kindness and the time he took to explain everything in a way we could easily understand. He was a true gentleman and we have never forgotten the amazing difference he and his team made to Joshua’s life - sending lots of love to the family xx

Mr Laws was my sons consultant. He was the person who told me that my son had ushers syndrome almost 10 years ago. I always hoped that we would see him rather than one of the registrars - mainly because I felt I could trust him. He always listened and tried to reassure me. We did see him in our last appointment when he told me that he was retiring in June'20 - I was disapointed but also pleased for him. So sad to hear of his passing - love to the family XX

So saddened to hear the news about this lovely man who was taken too soon. I had the privilege to work with him at Sancta Maria where he was loved by colleagues and patients alike. RIP Mr Laws, you will be sorely missed.

We are absolutely gutted to hear this news today. David Laws was one of the good ones, a true inspiration, a humble yet incredible human being. He saved my sons sight just after he was born 3 months premature and we saw him twice a year every year for the last 16 years. When we saw him 2 months ago in clinic he said that after 16 years he no longer needed to see my son. It was an emotional goodbye to him and all the incredible staff. Our heart felt condolences to his family which he adored. The world has lost a wonderful human being. Rest in peace David.
