My heart goes out to your family and friends, you are a massive loss to us all. I miss you everyday.

From being my friend who used to save me a seat on the school bus every day. Who became my pen-friend when I was at college as we couldn’t afford to spend hours on the phone anymore ! To becoming my family when Ava & Stephen got married. How lucky was I ? I’m so grateful for all of the memories Matt-chew. But I will miss you so much. Rest easy. Love Catherine & girls xxx

Looking at the photos of Matt made me smile though, remembering Matt in happier times as cousins, meeting up every year and sharing what seemed like 10 to a bed in Galtymore Road. Great memories.

RIP Matt from your Canadian family.

Our dearest honorary Canadian Matt...what an amazing person we were blessed with meeting. You truly were a big personality, full of love, humour and sarcasm that flowed heavily like Niagara Falls (which he totally loved). Our time together, from Tim Horton's (which is not our nation's capital) to pub to pub to pub for 1 or 10 was time well spent with someone who made us discover there was a backside to a drink menu.
He was the one that made Kate happier than shoes and red wine. We discovered this true love when he was leaving Canada earlier than the rest of the Broons. We haven't seen a more truer love than the hug he got on his send off. So on your send off know that you touched so many of us and that we look forward to meeting again and...

The most funniest and sensitive gentleman ... my fondest memory is you telling me your perfect day off was pot noodles and eating one in your underpants......you always made me laugh... every morning... thank you...Never been able to look at a pot noodle in the same light since............
