I met Derek twice. He was an absolute gentleman on both occasions. He was down to earth and very professional in the work he did. Such a sad loss for his wife and family.

Derek ticked all the boxes in life. A loving father, a caring man who gave so much more than he took - for his country and the community around him. A man who was fair and considered in his judgement, who positively affected all those around him. A force for good who truly deserved the term 'great', yet would have blushed if he had heard that said. A man I respected, his words were those worth listening to. He leaves us who knew him richer in life and knowledge and is greatly missed. I salute you Sir.
