HALLOWEEN

I do not believe in magic - Only the
Sort you can make -
I do not believe in ghosts - They’re -
Just memories that bake!
I do not believe in miracles -
For they often go so wrong.
And I do not believe in the un-dead -
For once you are dead - you are long gone!
I do not believe in hauntings -
I do not believe in gore!
I only believe in the now and then -
For what is heaven for?
When we go - we go for ever
But our spirit plays a large part.
It stays deep in the family -
Alive in loved one’s heart
So no - I do not believe in Halloween -
Seems silly in every way
I’d rather go to the church in the morning
And for lost souls simply pray.

BACK TO THE BEGINNING

Where is the start of every beginning!
Or do we say we have begun -
At some date - when humans are living -
Or maybe when we had a sun!
When a bang started it all -
Or for some it may have been last week.
Or when the sky started to fall -
And no solace or shelter to seek.
Some will argue it was before the war -
But we’ve had so many - does it count!
And others swear the whole core -
Came from a mountain or a mount -
But I believe the beginning is where
You wish to start.
And it can be just anywhere at all -
From your head - or a windowsill - even
From your heart -
Looking down - middle or tall!
So, we shall start at the beginning -
Go in steps - jumps - occasional hop -
And once we are there - at the end -
That’s when we shall all stop!

CLIMB A MOUNTAIN or a MOLE HOLE

Whatever your age - gender or need
Whatever your pace - fast or slow speed
Climb a hill!

Whatever your health - slim or fat.
Whatever your colour - brown - white or black!
Climb a hill!

Whatever your hobby - clever or dumb -
Wearing a coat that belongs to your Mum,
Just climb a hill!

Wherever - whoever - whatever still
Climb a hill!

PAINT A PICTURE WITH WORDS

I try to paint a picture -
I do my very best -
I mix and blend the colours -
And even tones I test -
I see the image clearly -
There before my eyes.
But what I see and what comes out
Is a total strange surprise!
The blue I chose looks a sickly green -
The red comes out as muddy brown -
And as forgery - chuck it away -
For it is worse than rain on any day.
My face upon the body - is wobbly
And nose and ears seem knobbly -
But with no chin - no space to paint in
I think my portrait has gone away.
And a cartoon of a caveman
stands there -
I stand and stare -
And carefully, I pack my art
And paints away !
That’s quite
Enough - for one day!

WEDDING BELLS

Hear that eerie sound - echoing around -
Listen to the message that it's sending.
It's seeking you to bless - with joy and happiness -
To fill those days with love - never-ending.
Even doves that coo - if too, they only knew -
Would sing - like nightingales in springtime.
They would keep in tune - they dare not rest too soon -
Before two hearts are one - forever entwined.
Exchange the golden ring - angels above will sing -
Blue's a patch of sky - everything is bright -
And listen to the beat - the tappings of the feet -
Welcome the deep peals - of sheer delight.
There's music rich for two - the future's bright for you -
For every song that has been sung - brings a word of joy -
Give your love quite free too - promise to be ever true.
And always leave some inner self - a part of you that's coy -
For when the day is over - the bells will stop and rest -
And the life you now will lead - will be heaven-blessed.
Still floating on the breeze - will be notes that tease
And in the final beat will be - a message clear -
Never turn your back upon - the life you have now -
And always say a loving thing - making sure he's heard.
Smile at him when talking - smile at him when sleeping
Smile at him when walking - or when not in his sight -
Smile at him while eating - smile for ever keeping -
A special smile at waking - and see him smile at you!
