Over the years, Miss Aiken gave many of her pupils a love and understanding of literature that has remained with them to this day. She was firm but fair with regard to discipline and a teacher of unequalled ability. Many are the individuals that have passed through the corridors of Willfield who have benefited from her skills as a teacher.

She was a strict teacher who scared us all despite being under 5ft tall. But at the same time she instilled a love of literature in me that I still have today. I love Jane Austen and Shakespeare and even love the the war poems of Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon even today. (still hate Lord of the Flies though - sorry Miss Aikin)
