Dear Gran,
We may not have spent lots of physical time together, due to our obvious distance apart, but your mastering of Facetime allowed us to talk about everything that was going on in the world and more importantly what Juergen Klopp and his team were up to that particular week. You were always able and willing to give your honest opinion and ready with your advice.
Although you were far away, you were still close to me. It is hard to put into words all that you meant to me, so I will keep it short – you meant more to me than words can ever express and I will always remember you.
Love George
The words of George are mirrored by Collin and Conny, plus her extended family in Germany and summed up in the following poem by David Harking:
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
