Dearest mum, what can I say? Your strength of character, hard work, uncompromising belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, saying it as it is, love, generosity, tenacity, and unashamed love for your family and friends is beyond reproach. How no DIY work could phase you - you decorated my house singled handedly, refusing any helping hand, stripping wall paper and putting up new ones, putting up all the cupboards and it was not uncommon for you to take down curtains wash them and put them back up before one returns from work whether that was at mine or another of your children's homes; how you would rearrange my kitchen telling me "it is not practical" ignoring my protests that it was my kitchen. You had such tremendous energy. Your love of life, laughter and calmness in a crisis, your stern look when you disapprove are all memories I will continue to hold dear. Your phrases like " complaining doesn't help" or "that is not our portion", are a couple that I will always remember. Thank you mum for doing the very best, for showing us that holding on will eventually yield good results, and that when the Lord is with you, you can really scale walls. Thank you for being my mum. And as I say "I love you mum, I hear you say " I love you too Ade, my lovely daughter "π. I know you are with the Lord, waiting for when we will be reunited again in God's kingdom to part no more, and on that day that the Lord rewards you for your faithfulness with the crown of righteousness. Love you mum, now and forever.
