Uncle Jeff… what d’you say?
It’s took me a while, because… what d’you say?
So I’ve done you a poem, lets call it ‘me way’,
To say sorry and thank you, and I miss you, goodbye,
You were one in a million, no word of a lie.
When I needed a sitter, I knew what to do…
Just pick up the phone ‘cos, “it can only be you!”
You’d look after them all, dogs, ducks and the hens,
Obviously pals, and clearly good friends.
And only occasionally would you drive through a fence…
(unless you were there, this bit don’t make no sense.)
Reliable and steadfast, and also a blue,
A perfect great uncle, yep, still talkin’ about you!
You were there with support, and I’m told, also with pride,
To be any better, you couldn’t have tried.
You were just what I needed, and just what I got;
Now there’s a void were you where, and I’ll miss you a lot.
Goodnight uncle Jeff, you really were great!
I’m glad you were here, an’ ‘am glad your me mate.
Now there’s just one last thing, before I run on for too long…
I won’t miss your socks ‘cos they really did pong!
