My name is Sylvia Tomlinson and I was Cyril’s aunt. I am shocked and saddened by my nephew’s death. It is a double blow coming so soon after his mother, my sister, passed away.
The death of his mother resulted in a great deal of upheaval for Cyril.
He decided to move into his Mum’s house, which suited him as it was a bungalow and he had great difficulty climbing stairs. I cannot help but think the stress of moving house combined with dealing with his mother’s death might have been too much for him.
Many memories come back when I think of Cyril. When we were young, Cyril was like a little brother to me. I would often take him out with me. One place we went together was the local swimming pool, or ‘the baths’ as we called it then, where Cyril learned to swim. Later, in his teen years, he went on to swim competitively for the County.
Cyril will be greatly missed by those who knew him but my deepest sympathy goes out to Cyril’s family. My thoughts are with you all as you face the days ahead.
Love,
Auntie Sylvia
