Dear Steve I don’t know where to begin. We were friends for over 51yrs, and your death is a huge unexpected loss, the world will never be the same.
Touring until the end, Britains best Singer and songwriter, never fully recognised, by the establishment as the genius you were.
R.I.P. darling xxx

First see Steve and Cockney Rebel back in th 70s. Followed him ever since, and lost count of the number of gigs I have been to since. What a gentleman , RIP, there is a tear in my eye. Phil, Norfolk.

Margot Ward: I was in my first year of teaching when Come up and See Me was a hit. It was great to hear this wonderful song on the long commute each morning, and I have loved it, and Steve, ever since.
I’ve had the good fortune to see Steve in concert several times over the years, and these evenings out have given me tremendous and unforgettable pleasure. Steve has, and always will be, my favourite ever musician. So, so very sadly missed.

I grew up with Steve’s music and loved his brilliant wit during his gigs. Seen him many times and luckily met him once. Was upset when hearing the sad news. Always remembered 💚

Deeply shocked and saddened by the heartbreaking news of Steve's passing. His music was the background to my life for more than 50 years and seemed to become part of my DNA. It's hard to imagine a future without him but I treasure the memories of attending countless amazing concerts and meeting him on several occasions. One of his Takamine guitars holds pride of place in my guitar collection and will forever remind me of his talents. A true gentleman with a heart of gold and a magical touch both musically and lyrically. Irreplaceable and never to be forgotten. I send my deepest sympathy to Dorothy and the rest of his family.

I first seen you live 10th Feb 1975 in Glasgow and then 126 times thereafter. Every show was different and special. The gig at my home in 2019 was the pinnacle. You will be sorely missed by your family, friends and fans. I’ll come up and see you sometime.
