I met Pauline around 12 years ago when I was frantically trying to get tickets to a Will Young album showcase when we were living in London. Tickets were going for x10 times their worth but after a post on the Will Young Forum, Pauline dropped me a message to say she had a spare ticket that she would like to gift me. More than that, she and her ‘Will Crew’ were meeting for a drink before the concert and she invited me along to that too. This was the start of a unique and wonderful friendship, as well as getting to know a kind-hearted, genuine and generous person.
We would share our good times and bad, our love of music, birthday and Christmas presents, and over the years we got to know each other’s families, partners and friends.
Pauline was a person of great bravery, kindness and thoughtfulness, and was always looking out for others. I found this beautiful quote that describes our friendship so perfectly… “There are friends, there is family, and then there are friends that become family”.
We often said “If you only you lived closer, you could pop around for a hug and cuppa!”, and over the past few months this has been said so often. Although I won’t be able to have that hug and cuppa again with Pauline, I know that when I head to her hometown in September and see her family, along with Will Young in concert (as we had planned to) that she’ll be there with me. I will miss my friend more than I can put into words, and send my deepest sympathy to her beautiful family.
