I bought my first bike, a Suzuki AP50 moped, from Clive in 1976 when he had a shop on Humberstone Road. He was very helpful, not to mention tolerant.....as I knew absolutely nothing about bikes at the time. I made the classic mistake with these mopeds, and not realising that you needed at least a couple of inches of fuel in the tank to keep it running rang him after a week to say that it had 'broken down'. He drove all the way out to my house with a can of fuel.....and yes, you guessed it....the bike magically started again once the empty tank had been filled. He was too generous to make fun of a gormless 16 year old. RIP Clive.
