My memories of a very special and dear man, Des Ward
I have so many fond memories of time spent with Des and the family at 48 Western Park Avenue which seem just like yesterday even though it's over 50 years ago. He was always such a lovely, generous, friendly man who spent a huge amount of 'family' time entertaining all who happened to be there, around his piano for a good old sing-a-long, playing cards and other games, tennis on a Saturday morning and of course one can't forget his special home brew. Above all I certainly couldn't write this about Des without mentioning his wonderful jokes, so good that they were retold at the drop of a hat, whether we liked it or not.
Des, it was so special to have known you nearly all my life and you will be very much missed by us all. I will think of you every time I make your favourite lemon drizzle cake
