Uncle Alan was someone quite special in our family. He always had a smile on his face and a cheeky joke or comment to bring a little bit of fun. As a shy child he would always look after me, encourage me to get involved, have some biscuits and play in the garden. He was someone who just cared about people, put them at ease and made them feel welcome, whoever and wherever they were. In later years he became a lovely and kind great uncle to our boys Lewis and Jacob who loved him and his stories of a lion which lived at the bottom of his garden! We’ll all miss him very much and will cherish the lovely memories we have of a truly lovely man. Love from Pauline, Stewart, Lewis and Jacob xx

When I think of uncle alan, I think of the cool uncle who always loved to see me when I was taken to his house. The uncle who always made me feel welcome and always had me in stitches with his jokes and stories. A uncle that once had to save my life by pulling me out of his pond when I feel in. A uncle who was always giving me choc ices and biscuits and later in life a cigarette lol. A uncle who was always delighted to see my daughter when I took her around and spent hours playing with her. Alan was a real mans man with a complete heart of gold. He always had time for everyone and always had the ability to put a smile on people’s faces even if they where sad. My only sadness is that due to how life is , in later life I never got to spend more time with him and I will greatly miss him. Love Sean, Kim and Kira xx
