Joan MargaretHOWLETT(Nee Smith) Joan, after a prolonged tussle with Myeloma, endured with such bravery, character and positiveness, succumbed to its effects and passed away on Christmas Day, aged 72 years. She was surrounded by love and care and it was a peaceful and dignified passing. Joan is now at peace with the Lord in Heaven and this is a great comfort to her family. She leaves her husband Richard, sons William and Philip and 5 grandchildren. Joan will be remembered as a GPO telephonist, a receptionist at several GP practices in Cambridge, as the caterer at the Cambridge Union Society and YMCA, and as the lead tenancy support worker with Jimmy's Night Shelter, then, in her retirement, as a bereavement counsellor in Wells-next-the-Sea. There will be a private, family funeral, followed by a Celebration of Joan's life at a later date. All enquiries to Smiths Funeral Directors Telephone 01733 347474.

Dear Joan yourself and Richard taught me so much about faith, you will always be a truly generous, kind and loving person who did so much good and cared so much for other people, you will be missed the world sadder without you but you will always be in my heart. Love Mary. And love to all the family thinking of you all. X
