So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr Lis. I'm 52 years old and still remember what an amazing inspiring teacher he was. The absolute best. X

So sorry to hear about Peter. He was the most awesome English teacher who inspired me and my sister at Newbridge High School. He also became a family friend. We will remember his wicked sense of humour and engaging conversation. Cheers to you, Pete.

Mr Lis was my English and Drama teacher at Newbridge High School. He was also my favourite teacher. Like others, we had brilliant times including theatre trips, days out and ski-ing holiday. We called him Reg, he called me Bill. I have wonderful memories of my time at Newbridge a lot of which included Mr Lis. Rest in Peace. A very special man x

I was his pupil at South Charnwood, Im now 46. I was so sad to hear of his death and only wish I had contacted him in recent years to tell him what an inspiration he was to me and so many others. He was truly a one-off. An incredible teacher, who always thought outside the box and always encouraged us to have confidence in our ideas. He was SO hugely creative, really talented and very funny and we all loved him. I have so many great memories of all the original drama and dance productions we did. Some of which were so brilliantly off the wall I feel I must have dreamt them! He definitely fuelled my continued interest in theatre. As others have said here, I feel really lucky to have known him and been taught by him.

So terribly sad to hear the passing of Mr lis. He was my form tutor at South Charnwood 1985, Mr Lis had that rare, beautiful gift of being simply a brilliant teacher. He inspired me to dance, write, and question things. He was also very funny, kind and cool. We all loved him. I hope he knew how many lives he touched and changed. Thank you Mr Lis, I feel lucky to have known you. X Jo Woolerton.

I was so sad to hear this news today , I am 45 years old and Peter Lis was our high school teacher for 3 years and we all loved him dearly so much so he has stayed in our hearts into adulthood . I still use sooty magic at work now and many of his other daft lines and smile when I think of him . Condolences to family and friends and I hope it brings you comfort to know the lasting impression he has had on so many 😘
