Ralph was at the Brentwood Gazette when I started working there in 1989. He was a lovely man, always gracious and charming with a great sense of humour. It was a privilege to have worked with and known him. RIP x

My dad, Ron Harding, was just talking about Ralph and was worried he had not seen him lately. They knew each other at the Elim Church and liked each other very much. Ralph was always remembered in their prayer meetings, as he was in a dangerous job flying missions over Germany. I knew Ralph from 276 Squadron ATC and thought he was a wonderful man; modest and caring. We both send our warmest regards to his family. Roger Harding

I’ll treasure all my wonderful memories of working with Ralph. A true gentleman, hero and inspiration to all. From helping me revise for my yacht navigation exams (much the same as navigating a Lancaster Bomber he said) to inspiring my son to join the RAF, he will never be forgotten. RIP and blue skies dear friend. xx

I started at the Essex Chronicle in 1988 as a page planner for the main title. At this time Ralph was working at the Brentwood Gazette planning the pages for that title. On Wednesdays he would arrive at Westway to put the gazette to bed ( media terms). Eventually page planning was combined & all titles were generated from Westway. I had the great honour of working with him for 2 days a week. Oh boy did we have some giggles & he was respected by everyone. A memory I will always remember is his visit to Westway after collecting his MBE from Buckingham Palace all dressed in his uniform. A very dear gentleman who also played a part at my wedding in 1992 I will miss his friendly smile & nature RIP my dear friend.
