In 1995 we brought my mother-in-law to Cornwall as she wanted to see from whence her grandparents emigrated to the USA. By happenstance we met Freda Richards when we stopped for gas at the station next to her house. She invited us into her home, offered tea and scones and sent us away with a booklet about the Hicks Mill Church. In it my mother-in-law learned that her grandfather had helped to build the church. For several years I maintained a connection with Freda via letters. She was a lovely woman who is fondly remembered.
