AlanGILLESPIEOn Saturday 7th September 2019, Alan Gillespie FRCS, FRCOG, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at Frimley Park Hospital, aged 91. Alan was born on 25th May 1928. He graduated with a 1st Class Hons MBBS Degree from University College Hospital, then becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He worked as a consultant at Frimley Park Hospital until his retirement. Throughout his life, Alan had a passion for gardening: sweet peas being a favourite. He was a keen fan of Aldershot Town F.C. and Farnborough F.C. and served as club Doctor for both teams. He travelled the seas on many cruises around the world and had a love of his family, friends and dancing. He was preceded in death by his sister Jean and his first wife Sheila, mother of his four eldest children. He is survived by his wife Mavis, his older brother Ronald, his second wife Gillian and his five children Nicholas, Timothy, Fiona, Juliette and James. Service to be held on Friday, 11th October 2019 at Aldershot Crematorium at 1:30pm, followed by a celebration of his life at The Aviator in Farnborough. Donations are preferred to flowers and can be made out to either the 'Heart Foundation' at Frimley Park Hospital or Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care and sent to E. Finch and Sons, 123 High Street, Hampshire, GU11 1TT. All welcome.
