AlanJACKSONFormer Head of Leisure Services, Harlow District Council, retiring in 1990. Lived at Woodhill, Harlow for 45 years. Died peacefully with family around him on 11th April 2019 in the care of Wetherby Manor in his native Yorkshire, aged 91. Beloved husband of the late Joyce and dad of the late Neil. Treasured and much loved uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law, mentor, friend and neighbour to many. Funeral service to be held at St. James' Parish Church, Wetherby on Tuesday 7th May 2019 at 2.00 pm followed by cremation at Harrogate, and afterwards at St. James' Parish Church Centre. Flowers may be sent to Pools Funeral Directors, St. James Street, Wetherby, LS22 6RS telephone 01937 587284. Donations may be made if desired to Wetherby in Bloom, a local charity, for which a plate will be provided. " If you wish to be happy forever - make a garden "

I worked with Alan in Harlow in the early 80's. We kept in touch for many years but I lost his address after he moved to Whetherby and despite all my efforts, couldn't get back in touch. So sad to hear of his and Joyce's passing and fond memories of a valued colleague. Chris Lightfoot.
