Supporting You with Free Online Notices & Donations

This weekend we've all received with a heavy heart the news that our journey through the pandemic will certainly continue into the new year.

From speaking with Funeral Directors, Arrangers and Team members throughout the year we know how difficult the pandemic has been for you, having to say no to requests for funerals to go ahead as planned. Our hearts go out to the many people who suffered a loss this year and found themselves facing restrictions as the pandemic continues to impact attendance at funerals and physical contact with friends and family at a time when it is most needed.

Since the pandemic began, we have been letting you know that online notices are free to appear on funeral-notices.co.uk - a small gesture that has brought comfort to families who have missed out on many of the other expected elements of a traditional funeral. Our offer for free online notices will be available for you to give to families as long as we find ourselves living with the restrictions of the pandemic, so please feel free to take advantage of them and help us offer the benefits of an online notice to as much of the UK as we can.

How Can An Online Notice Help Families?

Announcing the passing of a loved one in your local newspaper is a time honoured tradition and for many, an important part of the grieving process. Due to restrictions and a fear of being placed in the devastating situation of having to turn well wishers away from funeral services, many grieving families are missing out on formally announcing their loss.

An online notice offers an opportunity to tell the story of a loved one, helping to put a name behind some of the awful statistics we read about every day. Whilst the restrictions on funerals and lockdowns have kept people physically apart, online communities have helped people to share their memories and offer support and comfort to one another.

Online notices reach into the heart of your communities through our regional news sites and offer a simple way for friends and families to come together to share their grief, collect tributes, memories, photos or light candles in memory. Our free online notices may be booked retrospectively, remain online forever and offer a safe place online to collect donations in memory of loved ones.

We hope that by continuing to offer an online notice free and accessible to UK communities, we can play some small part in connecting friends and family and give something back as we continue to navigate our way through the pandemic and into the new year.

How Can I Book A Free Online Notice?

The simplest way to book an online notice is to book it using our simple self serve booking portal. We have put together a useful guide to booking online notices Here

Online notices may also be booked by emailing (fdteam@funeral-notices.co.uk) or calling the team (03444 060276) as you usually would to place a notice (please request online only).

Why Are Online Donations Important During The Pandemic?

It won't surprise you to know that the charitable sector has also really struggled this year so it has never been more important to offer online donations in memory of loved ones. We are extremely proud of the money friends and family have raised on their notices in 2020; in November alone they raised over £91,000 for a number of charities. Online notices play a vital part in making sure collections in memory may still go ahead, unaffected by restrictions on attendance at funerals and ensure promises to charities as part of a loved one's legacy are kept.
