Cullerne BownALANThe well known retired Bookmaker has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on the 13th May. He was born in London on the 23rd September 1942. Alan is survived by his daughter Dawn Cullerne Bown and his partner of many years Maggie Carter. Alan was living in the Margate area and owned business and property investments locally and elsewhere. He was a quiet philanthropist who throughout his life has helped many causes to thrive. He was the largest donor to the UK Independence Party which enabled them to have a strong voice in the political arena. Nigel Farage says that Ukip could not have survived without Alan Bown. He took a strong interest in helping to form the Thanet Night Shelter for the homeless as well as supporting local sports in need such as Margate Football Club of which he was at one time on the board of Directors. He also helped the local Birchington Tennis club with funds where needed. He was very highly respected for all the help and advice he has given throughout his life and will be sadly missed. The date of the funeral service is 10th June at 12.15. Sadly at present only 10 people can attend due to the Coronavirus epidemic but the service will be live streamed for everyone who would like to be there in spirit. A link will be provided for this if you contact the email address given here. Alan's death is a huge loss for his loved ones, he had promised them he would live until 90. Condolences can be sent to Dawn and to Maggie by email: lovetoalanbown@gmail.com RIP Alan
