I started at the Essex Chronicle in 1988 as a page planner for the main title. At this time Ralph was working at the Brentwood Gazette planning the pages for that title. On Wednesdays he would arrive at Westway to put the gazette to bed ( media terms). Eventually page planning was combined & all titles were generated from Westway. I had the great honour of working with him for 2 days a week. Oh boy did we have some giggles & he was respected by everyone. A memory I will always remember is his visit to Westway after collecting his MBE from Buckingham Palace all dressed in his uniform. A very dear gentleman who also played a part at my wedding in 1992 I will miss his friendly smile & nature RIP my dear friend.
