TonyJONESFrodingham lad Tony Jones died on 8th January 2020 with family by his side, after a short illness. He was 72 years young and was looking forward to returning to work at the blast furnace on Scunthorpe Steelworks. Recognisable by his distinctive all-year tan and shiny, Brylcream-styled Elvis quiff, Tony was born on January 23rd 1947 at 12 Winn Street, Frodingham. Many will know Tony from when he worked as a coal man with Appleby Frodingham, Hughes and Fred Mastin's (60s, 70s and 80s). He then worked away before starting a career at the Steelworks, where he is now regarded as 'Blast Furnace Legend'. Tony is greatly missed by his family, friends and work colleagues who will be celebrating his life on Friday 31st January from 2.00pm at Scunthorpe Crematorium for a short service and then on to Redbourn Club to raise a glass to his life and share memories. There will be a cortege led by a White Cadillac hearse leaving from Premier Inn Lakeside at 1.20pm, passing the steelworks then through Frodingham and on to Woodlands Crematorium. Please no flowers, although a donation on the day will be greatly received and shall be passed on to Scunthorpe's Intensive Care Unit via 'The Health Tree Foundation' c/o Jason Threadgold Funeral Director 3 Burringham Road Scunthorpe DN17 2BA
