I am so heartbroken to learn that Ms. Anderson had passed away.

I first met Ms. Anderson in 2001 as she was my art teacher at Royds Hall High School. I remember the first thing I thought was just how amazing it was to have an American teacher. She was so friendly and her passion for art made a huge impression on me. It was no coincidence it was my favourite subject as I miss that excited feeling I would have walking to her art class.

When I think about Ms. Anderson I picture her kind eyes and that beautiful smile that would light up the room. I will always remember seeing her green Jeep Cherokee parked up near the school entrance and just thinking how cool it looked.

Ms. Anderson, thank you for all the wonderful memories. I feel so blessed to have met you in my life and I will never forget you.

Love from Perry Singh (Royds Hall Class of 2001-2006)

Ms. Anderson was my art teacher in my 1980 senior year at St. Alphonsus High School in Dearborn, Michigan. She encouraged me to develop my art work. She would assign projects to other students and sit next to me watching me draw in my sketchbooks. Asking me "how do you do that?" I would take my sketchbooks home on weekends and she couldn't wait to see what I had drawn in them. She featured me in the high school art show and got a summer college art class for me after I graduated. I sell my art at comics and art shows. Even published an art book. I always wanted to show her what I have done. Thank you Ms Anderson. I will miss you.

I wish I had gotten a chance to tell Ms. Anderson what a great impact she had made on my life. For an awkward, sheltered teenager trying to find herself in this world, Ms. Anderson made me feel like I belonged in that basement art room. The art I made was inconsequential and remedial at best. The space I was given to discover myself was invaluable. That was her magic, and that was what she gave to all of us. She would always talk about her love in England. Thank you, Ms. Anderson!

Ms Anderson has inspired me since she was my art teacher 17 years ago. She went on to teach me photography and was the most warm and loving person.
She always had time for you, always welcomed you and wanted to cultivate her students. I can’t put into words how sad I am to find out about her passing. I think about her from time to time, always with the fondest of memories.
She touched so many of her students hearts and I am so privileged to say that I am one of them.
Thank you Mrs A for sparking a life long love of art and photography. Thank you for always being kind and inspiring the same in as many people as you could. The world is a lesser place without your smile.

I have just googled Berina to see how she was getting on in Huddersfield and am floored to see this. A lady of grace. I moved to Scotland and contracted pneumonia during my first year away but spoke to her once on the phone and she said it did not matter if we didn't speak for years it would be as if time didn't make a difference when we spoke again and that was 2006. And now due to Corona virus I started to search for her and I can't believe that darling, wonderful, beautiful - inside - and - out, vivacious lady has gone. I am crying now. Rest in peace beautiful Berina.

Binnie and shared a group house during college. She came home one night with the stub ends of the burnt candles from the church she was cleaning as a part time job. She lit them all at once, filling the living room with glowing light, for a brief moment. Magical. That's what she was, too. Thinking of her makes me want to reach out for the joy and play and creativity that's possible in every moment; what a beautiful legacy. With love, Betsy Hostetler
