It seems like only yesterday that I walked into the back room at the Bridge in Etruria to encounter Brian, guitar in hand, holding court over a room full of people. He sang his own songs, traditional songs and had a Dylan repertoire second to none. We soon became friends and before long fellow band members. My first such venture. Brian was always supportive to this "new kid on the block" and proved to be a fount of knowledge when required; which was frequent! I have fond memories of our practice sessions at Brian's house every Sunday afternoon, busily working on a repertoire extracted from Brian's well-thumbed song book. Our collective motivation was a love of the music and a desire to share it with others at the next folk club meeting or pub session. When I left the area I sadly lost touch with Brian but always asked after him whenever I crossed paths with mutual friends and musicians. He has always been a musical touchstone as far as I am concerned and to this day I still refer to playing alongside Brian back in the 1970s whilst making music with others today. Thanks for the memories Brian. You have truly left a golden legacy!
