Derek JohnBURNELLIn loving memory of Derek John Burnell, aged 91, who sadly passed away on 9th May 2019. A Royal Naval veteran of WWII and Korea, he joined at 16 and served for 24 honorable years, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. There followed a career in teaching at West Kent College for another 25 years. Countless young people benefited from his dedication to their education. An avid golfer, worldwide traveler and passionate husband, father and grandfather, he was a man of distinction and repute. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Kathleen Mary Burnell. He is survived by his sons, Christopher Burnell ( wife Kristine), Timothy Burnell ( wife Safiya), and grandchildren, Timothy and Laila. A memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, Crowborough on 25 May 2019 @11:30 am. Christopher Burnell
