Only just heard the shocking news. Last saw Alan a couple of years ago outside Pride Park - instanly recognisable even though I'd not seen him in over 35 years. I was Paul's schoolfriend since Portway so I knew all the family then. I well remember Alan making fools out of all of us in kickabouts on Allestree Rec and it looked like a professional career beckoned. Love to all. Stuart Findlay

Only recently heard of Al's passing, saddened and shocked to hear this news. I retired from RR in 2016 and moved out of the area, always great to chat with him at RR about the good times. We go back a long time as we used to play football, mainly against each other in boys football. Always remember Alan had real class as a footballer, with a 'cultured' left foot !
Taken way too soon, I will never forget our times together. Take care pal,
Vaughan Woolley
