I served with John as a fellow Troop Commander and then as his Sqn 2IC. He was a great colleague and boss. He allowed me to make many mistakes and give me room to develop without criticism. He was incredibly social, humorous and great fun to be around and that’s how I’ll remember him. His illness robbed the world of a real character, a great officer and a bloody good bloke. John will be missed but leaves behind many good memories.
