Delze and I first met on our first day at college in Bournemouth - both being Welsh we hit it off but I must admit I initially only pretended to understand everything she said as her accent was quite strong!. We had a typical student life enjoying our freedom but working hard to do well at our studies. We had a great time hitching around Belgium and France one summer. My mother always remembered her ironing her hair to straighten it when she came to visit me in Newport! We remained in contact and I had hoped to get together with Delze when she felt able. I have great regret that as I was myself dealing with ill health I did not read my Christmas cards in 2017 until Christmas 2018 when I read her note inside which alerted me that she might not be well and then found she had died., perhaps thinking I did not care enough to check on her. I attach a photo of us at the Eiffel Tower. Goodbye my dear friend. Angela Stuart (nee Welsher)
