John was a gentle soul and a pleasure to work with. He enthused the children at Craven Primary school by the way he presented music. Once he took the front off the piano and played it sitting on the floor so the children could see the hammers going.
After retiring he returned each Christmas for several years, to run a Christmas choir/percussian band which he took to a local old people's home.
