.I worked with Simon at Woolworths when we were students and we kept in touch for a few years at university. He was so funny and we used to have a real laugh together every Saturday usually after we had both been out the night before to the Cube in Newcastle.
He was such a lovely guy and I am so saddened to hear this.

"I was so sad to hear the news about Simon, such a great guy. The last time I met up with Simon was in Granada in November last year and Simon was on such great form. I've seen some of the photos on Facebook, which I think is a lovely way to remember Simon and how I will remember his bubbly personality and a really great guy. I just wanted to pass on my deepest sympathies" - Dom (London friend)
"Was shocked to hear about your mate Simon passing away. Seemed a very nice guy" - James (London friend)

More telling than my own memories of Simon, which were great and built up from a friendship spanning many years, are those of the people who knew Simon briefly yet still remember him so fondly. I would like to share some of these that came to me when on passed on the sad news....
"I so fondly remember Simon and am absolutely devastated. What an amazing trip we all had and I will always remember how Simon helped me through times when I wanted to give up. So much love Simon's family" - Hannah (Cycle India)
"Hi Ian,
I am so sorry to hear of Simon's passing. Most of us only had the pleasure of knowing him for such a short period of time but I remembering him being such a warm and kind person. He always managed to keep us at the back of the pack going and would always stop to make sure we were ok. Please send my heartfelt condolences to his family. It's truly sad." - Victoria (Cycle India)
"That is such sad news, it was such a wonderful cause that brought us together and so sad that this should happen to such a lovely guy. Please accept and pass on my condolences to his family. It has brought the trip back to the forefront of my mind and the cause that is still being fought by so many." - Lindsey and Wendy (Cycle India)
"Truly shocked. We remember Simon with great fondness. Especially that day we watched the elephant parade and quickly needed antibacterial gel after making new "friends". Sending much love to his family. Such a lovely guy." - Claire and Andy (Cycle India)
"This is incredibly sad news. In such a short space of time it was evident Simon was a gentle and caring guy, what a loss.
It's funny seeing photos again- how on earth did we manage to cycle all that way?!?" - Stefanie (Cycle India)
"I'm so sorry to hear this news. Simon was such a lovely man and it's horrible to hear that he lost his battle so young. Great memories of India and good to see the pictures again. Please send my condolences to his family." - Becky (Cancer Research)
