Dear Sue and Family, my thoughts are with you. Tony was so generous with his time, always happy to share his advice and knowledge on bats and made me feel very welcome when I first joined the EYBG. He will be sadly missed. From Nadine Rolls x

Dear Sue and family, I am so sad to hear the news about Tony. Like so many of us, my love for bats was nurtured by him, on countless walks, roost visits and bat box adventures. His passion and knowledge will stay with me. Love and thoughts from Bev x

Dear Sue and family,
So sorry to hear about Tony I will be thinking of you at this sad time.
It was a pleasure to know Tony and without his enthusiasm, encouragement and knowledge I wouldn't have spent many happy dark hours in persuit of bats. Love Helen x

Very sad news Tony was a good friend and I have very fond memories of working together. He made me very welcome when I first joined R&C back in 1970 and we had many good times together and later he taught me a lot about bats his real passion. Sue and family please accept my sincere condolences for your sad loss Tony was a true and valued friend. Peter Dettmar

Bearded in the winter, moustachioed in the warmer months Tony could have cycled for Britain. A kind and respected colleague Tony was a whiz at the scintillation counter and it was he who advised me not to use the Mistral centrifuge to harvest yeast for baking (there was a bread strike on) as they had recently been used for something quite gross. He probably saved my life. Fond memories of a lovely man.

Dear Sue,

Geoff Howlett told me today of Tony’s passing ... sad news indeed,on which to end the year.

Tony was already a member of the Pharmacology Department when I was appointed its head in 1972. We were colleagues at R & C until I left in 1977 and I have very pleasant memories of those days.

I send you and your family my very sincere condolences. David (Green)
