JanetLAYTONJanet Layton, much loved wife, mother and grandmother has passed away peacefully at 71 years of age. Janet lived happily in and around Bath for many years. Janet first moved to Bath in 1982, where she raised her three children with husband Nigel Wood, until she was widowed in 1991. Janet taught the reception class at Glenburnie, the pre-preparatory part of Monkton Combe Junior School and later worked as the parish administrator at St. Luke's Church, Wellsway, Bath. Janet was an active contributor to church life at St Luke's, including supporting her husband Nigel with the construction of the new parish centre. Janet was a highly committed and loving mother to her three children, Catherine, Malcolm and Andrew, whom she raised alone during their teenage years. Together they moved out of Bath city to one of the new houses in Hinton Charterhouse. She later met and married David Layton, with whom she briefly left Bath to move to David's home county of Derbyshire. She showed the same commitment and love to her stepson Stephen as she did to her own children. On their return to Bath, Janet and David purchased a property in Combe Hay that they re-built in order to enjoy their retirement together. Janet lived with Multiple Sclerosis for 14 years. Although she became progressively more physically disabled, this never deterred Janet from maintaining her numerous friendships, connections and activities across the Bath area and beyond. With her positive approach and good humour, she remained a popular and regular worshipper at Bath Abbey. Janet leaves her husband, her three children, her stepson, and her five grandchildren, David, Jessica, Nishanth, Ambika and Dominic. They will miss hugs, kind words, wise advice and fun times with their Granny. Please contact the Funeral Director, WF Dolman and Son for details of the Funeral or if you wish to make a charitable donation. No flowers please. CATHERINE EPPS

We were so very sad to hear of Janet's passing. Her kind manner and warm personality will be greatly missed at the MS Therapy Centre. Our thoughts are with Janet's family and carers at this difficult time.

Janet was an amazing person.
We spent a lot of time together on our little outings.
We laughed together we cried together, she was a great listener.
She spoke highly of her family and was looking forward to seeing her daughter Catherine and granddaughter Jessie in September.
She had recently seen her 2 sons And grandchildren as they came to stay.
RIP lovely Janet will treasure the time we had together.
Love always
