I've known Tony for a good chunk of my life. He played oboe next to my flute in many productions when I was at school and also with Burton Operatic Society. He helped me when I had to learn the clarinet and, away from music, he succeeded in getting both me and my sister through our driving tests where others had failed! A very talented musician who played a big part in my early musical journey and a truly lovely man.

There can't be a single musician in the Burton area who hasn't heard of or worked with Tony. Since the mid-thirties, when his father/uncles operated dance-bands locally Tony was either learning to play or joining in musical groups of all shapes and sizes on both single and doublereed varieties of woodwind instrument. Latterly a stalwart member of the Burton Big Band and Saxophonica (a saxophone quartet) he delivered quality performances on alto saxophone well into his 91st year.
