It was with great sadness that I received the news of Brian's passing recently. In my many years serving the recreational side of Cricket in Nottinghamshire, and in particular the Notts Schools Cricket Association, Brian was a source of great friendship and encouragement. He was always available to provide advice, helpful information and guidance on all cricketing issues. Whenever we met at TB, Brian always stopped what he was doing to speak to me and ask after my family. This continued in our common affinity and membership at Stanton on the Wolds golf club. A gentle man in more sense than one, he epitomised the ethos and values of the Nottinghamshire cricket scene in the latter part of the last century.
He will be sorely missed yet fondly remembered by many.
