How happy I was to make friends with Carolyn when we started at Tavi Comp in 1970. Ruth and Cyril - Mr and Mrs Squire to me in those days - welcoming me into their home with generous hospitality and endless kindness - I loved the relaxed atmosphere at Hurdwick Farm. Despite the relentless hard work involved with farm life Ruth and Cyril blessed us with so much time and space for endless fun and freedom as we grew up inseparable friends. Cyril used to let me ‘help’ with lambing, heaving bales and going out round in the mornings. And as the years went by they showed the same love to my husband Frank and our children Abi and Jo. I am so grateful to Cyril and Ruth for the huge part they have played in who I am today.
