I was an undergraduate in Chemical Physics at Surrey University 1976-1980. Dr. Brian Stace was my assigned "mentor". As well as receiving lectures from him, I met one-on-one each week to discuss problems. I remember those meetings with great fondness. He was calm, supportive, highly intelligent, and gave outstanding guidance. I went on myself to an academic career, become a professor of astrophysics. I learned a great deal from Brian. It was a privilege. John K. Webb.
