David EricBARTRAM'Bert' Passed away suddenly but peacefully at Queen's Hospital, with a glass of Jameson in his hand, on 9th December 2018, aged 63 years. Much loved son of Brenda and the late Eric, unique brother of Sandra, Heather, Stephen (Sid), Deborah and Nicholas and a treasured brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle and good friend to many. Family request loud and colourful dress code and hats are encouraged. Funeral Friday 28th December, service 2.15pm in the Carnarvon Chapel at Bretby Crematorium. Family flowers only please, donations in memory payable to 'Music Fund for Cuba' may be sent c/o Murray's Funeral Directors 23 York Street, Burton. DE14 2LX. Tel: 562299. I didn't know Bert well.
But whenever I bumped into him, saw him at a gig, or at a party at The Bird's Nest, I found him easy to talk to.
Always genuinely pleased to see me, we would chew the fat about music and many other things.
He had a view on just about everything, but to his credit, he was always prepared to debate and was never dismissive. A lead we can all follow in these uncertain times. A man with a generous heart, he bore all the fine qualities you would expect of a Bartram.
I get the feeling that this world was a better place, for Bert being in it.
Rest easy my friend.
Sweet dreams.
